coke is better than pepsi by 2 to 1.

of course, it's all corporatist swill produced to anaesthetize the proletariat into mistaking consumer choice for true liberty ... (con'd p. 94)

They both taste like shit to me. I only drink Coke with 2 parts vodka.

'You can be watching TV and see coca-cola, and you know that the president drinks coke, Liz Taylor drinks coke, and just think, you can drink coke too. A coke is a coke and no amount of money can buy you a better coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All cokes are the same and all cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the president knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it."

I hate Andy Warhol.

Oh, and the best drink is Vanilla DIET coke. Vanilla Coke's fucking shit.

And I love that Pepsi do a diet version aimed at men - Pepsi MAX. Hilarious. But it does work.

Pepsi tastes nicer.

PS - since I moved here I've become partial to the once-rank Supermalt, dunno why but that shit is growing on me! I hated it when I tried it about 3 years ago but it's alright like.

Sounds along the same line as Monty Pythons 4 old men, but obviously they didn't talk about drinking coke from dimpled mugs

Pepsi as it doesn't give you the burbs! Althought having said that, it has been ages since I had any fizzy drink. The best fizzy drink I ever had was Dandelion & Burdock I use to get from the local Milkman. It is the basics ingredients of all the Pepsi 'n' Coke empire.

Whoops! that meant to be a secret.

If you don't believe me then try it, that if you can get you hand on it of course. It has brewed around much longer than any of the big name brands. The taste of the Dandelion and Burdock is far superior in my view, but tastes very similar to the big name brands but without the added shit.

Wasn't it? It was just voted one of the best ever comedy sketches in some BBC poll and it says it's Monty Python's Four Yorkshiremen.

from: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4052641.stm

Top 10 alternative comedy sketches

1. Dead Parrot (Python)

2. Four Yorkshiremen (Python)

3. Lou and Andy by the Pool (Little Britain)

4. Going for English (Goodness Gracious Me)

5. Brown baby (Harry Enfield)

6. Ministry of Silly Walks (Python)

7. One Leg Too Few (Dudley Moore)

8. Papa Lazarou (League of Gentlemen)

9. Two Soups (Julie Walters in Victoria Wood)

10. The Spam Song (Python)

May I also add that 2 soups by Victoria Wood is shite.

Hi

Pepsi normal is better than Coke diet. But Coke normal, on its own, is the best of all. From the choice provided, Pepsi normal.

My Mrs reckons that it's hard to synthesis authentic tasting sweetener without making the result as addictive, fattening and tooth rotting as sugar. Our speculation is that taste buds sense a particular chemical signature. Not just “sweet”, but a genuine evolved chemical response that triggers the pleasure centres of the brain like no substitute.

Same goes for salt. Stuff scarce on the savannah, but plentiful today.

Did anyone hear about those experiments with sugar, fat, salt and rats? Is sugar genuinely chemically addictive for at least some people?

Love

You can get it from supermarkets (definitely ASDA), not proper Dandelion and Burdock though.

Depends, I reckon you could simulate the chemical structure to an extent but there is the effect of the sugar entering the bloodstream which you can't replicate without putting sugar in the bloodstream.

Sugar is NOT addictive, people are stupid.

All those drinks are rank, but my dentist did tell me that drinking fruit juice was almost as bad. I didn't want to argue with such a heavily tooled up guy but I disagreed. anybody?

I reckon that OJ has less sugar and doesn't have CO2 bubbles that can form carbonic acid (which is what supposedly melts teeth overnight, I never tried it, cared more about selling that small part of me to the tooth fairy whore that I am)

I can entertain this perspective too, but are a disproportionately large number of fat people stupid? Is it not true to say that some otherwise intelligent people suffer from a sweet tooth and are overweight as a consequence? Are they not addicted? Is it like nicotine, gambling or neither?

I think it’s safe to say that it would be evolutionarily advantageous for us to suffer mild sugar/salt addiction as a species. I draw the line at “chocolaholism” though, although I wouldn’t rubbish claims that some people’s brains are especially chemically adjusted to cocoa.

chocolate supposedly triggers endorphins so I guess it could be physically addictive.

I smoke, but I'm not addicted to nicotine, its a more complex psychological dependence. I think an addiction is something that would seriously fuck you up if it was withdrawn.

ie if I was on a desert #island with no fags, I'd be fine, but if you put a heroin addict on their they'd ave a few problems.

This argument does underline how stupid I am to continue smoking but I did know that anyway.

Stupid was a bit strong, I'll take that back. I just have a big thing about people claiming everything is an addiction so they don't have to take responsibility for their own actions so I apologise to all sugar lovers out there. Especially the stupid ones.

I'll smoke a cigarette now in solidarity with your plight.

edit : oh yeah, salt is necessary, sugar in its refined state, certainly is not .

Coke hands down. Coke has a gingery taste, Pepsi a slightly cinamony - as much as water, sugar and chemical additives can have the taste of the actual physical substance - i think they use esters or something for the flavours (marked on the ingredients either as simply 'flavourings' or 'flavourings: E000, E000, E000').

Coke definitely tastes different in different places tho. In France I prefer pepsi, and in Mexico (where I think it has something like 20 times the sigar content or something ridiculous) I don't really like it as much as I do here at all.

Still tho the poll should include Irn Bru which is actually a lot better than both, altho I've never had pepsi wild cherry as it's not stocked here in any supermarkets (which is where I tend to buy things like Coke if I have the money or inclination).
