Chomsky lecture and interview

For those of you who don't know, the Chom is in the UK at the minute, and as usual is rushing all over the place giving lectures. There is a free lecture in London on Wednesday evening, 5.30 at the Logan Hall, Institute for Education, Bedford way. Free, and open to the public.

There is one Thursday, andone Friday in Oxford, but these are ticket only, so I won't post anything about them (my brother is going to one though so i'll get him to post up a report).

Anyway, it looks like I have sorted out an interview for Friday, so I need to get together a list of questions that are of interest to anarchists. So, ignoring the "Chomsky is a liberal" crap some people will undoubtably think (Zerzan is the fucking liberal), can interested parties either post questions up here, or PM them to me?

Thanks.

Eh?

I have to get a list of questions to those doing the interviewing (there is not room for me to attend, and it is in Oxford, and it is supposed to be done only by Oxford students) by midday tomorrow really. I thought it would be good to do an interview of someone who is probably the most publically visible anarchist, and someone who has done alot of good work publicising radical politics.

Is that the itenerary you want? questions people are interested in getting asked to me by tomorrow afternoon?

Naw, I wanted to know if he was going anywhere other than Poshville and Poshton.

Questions. Hmm. He's pretty bright, you know. Wouldn't want to embarrass myself. But you could ask if he thinks the global solidarity movement can learn anything from the Zapatistas.

You could ask him whether he still stands by anarchist communism and anarchosyndicalism?

Jeremy Paxman introduced him as a "great liberal thinker" or something like that, although there was a weird swallow on the word "liberal".

just don't ask him about international relations, he's always on about that

ask him about his public endorsement of john kerry and his stance on labour issues, such as say the complete cutting of american workers overtime pay for example which the democrats have made hardly any moves to publicise or respond to, except a minority in the left block like kucinich who moved to block it where possible

meh i should ask someone from the US to give us a few questions rooted in american working class life over there and immigrant status and teh like

God i hate paxman, I bet he raised his eyebrow in that ''oh he doesn't agree with NATO bombing schools and hospitals so he must be a nutter'' thing he does.

Ok then, how about the "Chomsky is a millionaire" one. Apart form being the head of department at one of the most prestigious universities in the world (which probably earns you a fair whack), he is also pretty much THE authority on modern linguistics. I dunno how many millions of copies of his textbooks are used all over the world, but it is going to be A LOT. Added to that all his international relations stuff on Verso, and other massive pubishers. The fact he was asking for £4k per talk LAST time he came over, etc etc. Suffice to say, a rich man.

Failing that, you could ask him how he reconciles anarchism with membership of a political party. (the New party).
