criticism of the welfare state

You probably won't find any criticism of the welfare state that was originally written in English, but here is an English translation of a German text:

I don't get the comment really. Considering the fact that English as standard spans countries in at least 4 continents...I dunno.

Of course you can find plenty of criticism of the welfare state in English eg from business groups. Assumed the OP was asking for a left critique. Mostly you will find Trots and the like saying that it is a great advance in the fight for socialism. A lot of anarchists get into things like the fight for a minimum wage, one of the basics of the welfare state. Or rent control, etc.

Most of Colin Wards politics come out of criticisms of the bureaucratic nature of the welfare state, particularly around housing. That might be worth checking out.

The SPGB has online contemporary pamphlets criticising the setting up of the UK welfare state.
