What exactly is happening within Scotland

Looking though this part of the forum the obvious answer is not a lot, I know as far as where i stay there isnt exactly a lot happening, well to be precise there is nothing happening, even though the area im in is sparcely populated im sure there are plenty of people who share similar views but no one willing to organise anything, even a saturday night discussion group would be better than nothing , or perhaps im just shooting air out of my backside

Isnt it a famous saying that the revolution begins at closing time.

yeah, I have that site bookmarked already, just wish there was something more local, there is something very interesting in the spring issue of the class war paper . anyone remember the documentary about racism within the police force and the pc robert pulling who was caught on tape saying " I fucking hate him id fucking kill him id pull on my white hood and fucking chase him" ( he was refering to an asian pc who worked beside him) well he is now working as a trainee manager for marks and spencer and has changed his name to rob jones, the m and s is just outside Inverness at elgin, true or not I dont know , well it was a bit of excitement in the boring highlands , usually watching paint dry in a radical way is the closest we get to revolution.

Broadly speaking, as far as I am aware there are two libertarian social centres in Glasgow, one in Embra. There's the Aberdeen autonomous centre, if it still exists. There are individual anarchists dotted about, including in Falkirk and Stirling. There's a fair number of libertarians in the IWW in Embra, Glasgow and Dumfries. So, yes, mostly the Central Belt I'm afraid.

had a look at the aberdeen anarchists website, looks like its not been updated for many moons, maybe a bit of leafleting in the north of scotland is required to give people an alternative to main stream politics , mind you the radical group the wee frees would probably object and have me singled out for eternal damnation twisted

Look. The 'regional' board of libcom for Scotland is used by almost nobody, so it's a bit of a false way to tell if things are going on. It's also fundamentally flawed to see 'the working class' and 'those who self-identify as anarchists' as being in any way linked. There is actually fuckloads going on, most of which has completely passed 'the anarchists' by, but not everywhere.

I would suggest for Glasgow news you see www.citystrolls.com, which is very good. I would also suggest you take a look at tenant resistance to council sell-offs and resistance to the GHA as a starting point for things that are going on, plus ongoing labour disputes in the transport and catering sectors.

Find out if there are any plans to privatise council housing in Inverness (ASFAIAA there are) and get involved in your local tenants association. If you've not got one, start one. In terms of non-central belt stuff there was a recent community buy-out on an estate in the Western Isles, and in terms of Inverness all those crappy chain shops afford ample potential recruits of disgruntled staff slaving on min. wage. If we're to get anywhere as a movement we have to recover from this fantasy that 'activists' doing 'activist' things ever accomplishes anything. We need to be working on a community level in the schemes and workplaces that the majority of the working class find themselves and get out of the ghetto.

Working class resistance!

Solidarity,
