On the 20th anniversary of the miners return to work....

March 2005 will mark the 20th anniversary of the miners return to work and the collapse of the miners strike.

On 5th March 2005 Doncaster will host a rally and social asking "Where have we been, where are we now, where are we going?"

The venue will be The Fox, Stainforth, Doncaster, and a further event is planned for Newcastle.

The event in Doncaster will be in conjunction with the Banner Theatre. More details on their work can be found at:

These are two major events, that will have a national profile. Funds are urgently needed to cover costs. We are asking as many class struggle activists to send at least a fiver to do just that. If your trade union or organisation can also make a contribution, it would help ensure we remember not just the past, but build for the future.

Cheques should be made out to the Mining Communities Advice Centre and sent c/o 16 Abbeyfield Road, Dunscroft, Doncaster DN1 4AF.

I saw banner theatre's production on the miners strike 6 months ago. Was very very good!

I could agree if you are going to be as radical as your routes were... and if you can key into the casualisation/precarity stuff... I like the idea of how the Red Wobbly card was a social door opener, as it was on the railways in America at one point in the early 20th... If only we could create such a political mutual aid class consciousness... BUT I would drop all reference to such 'ancient' history and concentrate on the socio-economic conditions in the here and now... It's the culture of resistance we have to build...

What a brilliant idea! Concentrate on the here and now. I marvel at the way you can read a couple of lines I wrote and know all about my life and character. Any more advice? Like how to tie my shoelaces.
