March 19th Demo

Whose going down to the city on staurday then? I know theres a few IWW members going down, of course theyll be tonnes of swups and the like but i think its worth showing some sort of anarchist presence even if the logic of protest is a defeated one.

Y'know if you put a rising sun/ circle A in the background that photo'd look uncannily like the Workers Solidarity Movement logo.

she'd give you a cup of tea and some cake and possibly a cuddly blanket and you'd never want to build communism again

m going to tell her I would vote Lib Dem, but it's a wasted vote really, isn't it?

I bet THAT won't piss her off.

naw, she'd just beat you to death, sweetly bored, with a teacup. bit like saying to anarchists "but it'd be chaos really, wouldn't it?"

Quote:
The demo is going to be shit, is badly planned and isn't enough blah blah blah etc. build communism blah workplaces and communities. However, it's happening and we have to deal with that. If it's really shit and once again the movement is proclaimed "dead" it probably will have knock on effects that'll harm us. So if you're bored or stupid and get roped into shit too easily like me, you might as well go

But build communism and make sure it's not abstracting your oppression from the point of exploitation and stuff..

or just fuck the demo, travel to london and back for 10 quid, meet some people and go to the pub. probably be as useful....

back to the thread

its a demo. the nice bit is you get to meet people and do networking stuff , get some exercise, shout at the government which can make people feel briefly empowered and understand the usefulness of public transport (and the amazing fact that all roads go to london). the bad bit is you are abstracting your oppression from the point of exploitation. but hey, everyone needs a day off.

isn't that just what people do without spending the tenner?

and can you get all that way for a ten quid, cos it cost me more than that when I lived on the outskirts of london.

I'm in the middle of a rotten dissertation at uni, so therefore am unable to come. sad

At least a dozen people from Keele Univeristy are going though, and there will be an on-campus vigil at 10pm the same night, so it isn't all bad.

Oh if anyone askes if you want to buy a copy of the Socialist W***er just shout "FUCK OFF TROT!" at them and watch them get taken aback with the shock of your "polite answer". wink

A nice walk and a bit of talk so I buggered off to a pub and I got slightly pissed. So I perved instead, srry I couldn't say hi to the circle A I was worst for wear. I littled peed off by a 13 year old copper picking on a japanese tourist so the poor fellow got a dressing down all because the guy was cold and has his hand up under his arm. Big deal! So a finger up to you Missy Copper all because I don't know... maybe she (copper) hasn't been laid for a while.

I did sit and watched what they did a quick padding down (by a bloke) and asked for his and address. Sadly all legal. All this because of a whim. It's not right.

Maybe she after a promotion. Case solve more brownies points.

If you didn't go, there wasn't much of a do, so you didn't missed much.

Yeah so in summary:

#1 the demo was really boring. At least when you hang near the Libertarian Bloc it's kinda (sickly) entertaining. It'd be awesome if at Trafalgar Square the cops had a display board of all the photos they take of the "anarchists" pre-demo for sale, like they do at theme parks.

#2 the highlight was Jack calling a Spart a lunatic.

#3 the second highlight was the CAG banner. What a beautiful piece of craft(wo)manship (tongue) from the Minister for the Interior Design (aka Jess). How amusing it was when CND/Green types actually tried to cross the road on seeing it, before realising they were on a march. Haha.

#4 thank fuck for the samba band. It's thanks to their tireless efforts banging those drums in a variety of rhythms that the coalition troops pulled out of Iraq as a consequence of the demo and handed power over to the Iraqi proleteriat. Special thanks also goes to the pissed punks and hippies who always dance topless.

#5 pub was nice. Spitfire + cigar + rowdy Odd Couple-esque mismatch cross-section of individualist "anarchists", class struggle anarchists, "tankies", liberals etc etc = haha + MmMMMMmMMMMmM.

At least the sambe band made some noise apart from those whining swpies, i heard one twat shouting 'Bush out michael moore in', no shit, the free food was good as was whoever threw that orange smoke bomb in the direction of the US embassy, anyone else tempted to make a wild dash through the police lines towards the embassy screaming wildly?! Wouldve been a highlight in an otherwise insipid demo, why didnt anyone decapitate Lyndsy german?!
