Make Tues a day they can't take seize people for detention

i'm putting the link to the northwest forum for the demo at Dallas Court enforcement centre into organise because we want people to come from other parts of the country if possible. the asylum seekers co-organising this want people from outside manchester to be there which is why we are starting at 12 noon. this is a big issue at the moment and it'd be great if anyone can get there. get a train to piccadilly or a coach to chorlton street bus station and then jump the tram to south langworthy road.

if you get lost ring me on the phone number on the link. Be really nice to see people there.

but why is it that i know they won't come? the whole who travels where is really londoncentric. i've argued myself blue in meetings with people that london is not the obvious place for everything. i've had people telling me that london is important because its where the government is, where the centre of financial institiutions is, where its 'easy' for everyone to get to, etc. etc.

hmm i think i feel a separate thread coming on.

But Lucy, LONDON is the centre of the universe(well sarf London is), so it's our revolutionary duty to remain at the centre of things.

jason, get your arse to manchester

just for once. fuck london. your revolutionary duty is to be at dallas court on tuesday. if enough people get there we can stop them arbitrarily seizing people for detention. we don't have to do anything, just have enough people there.

its really hard when you know people and you think next time they are seized they will go, into detention, deportation... into an uncertain future where all news is bad news.

sorry, i'm kind of losing my sense of humour over this. i don't mean to.

sad

Lucy the future revolutionary vanguard will mostly be at work at 12 noon on a Tuesday. Seriously.

Moreover, asking the "dolescum" to travel up to Manchester is unrealistic cos it means they'll have to drag their (probably hungover) asses outta bed at the crack of dawn and either raise money for the National Express or compromise their politics by having a friend with a car drive them. So, sorry.

thanks ftony

it was great today. after me stressing noone would turn up there were loads of people from about five different countries and some of the Zimbabweans brought drums and they drummed and danced and sang and it turned into a bit of a do! people seeking asylum spoke and i was angry and sad and having a good time all at once. also asylum seekers who were reporting at the centre came out and joined us.

we are doing it again in a month, if any of you can make it and arrgh shit the bbc just rang and i have to go on radio in an hour. now i'm scared neutral
