also, should add at end that there will be future issues when and where appropriate, so possibly some aimed at civil servants during their ballot/strikes, etc.
It says "for the next issue" in about us - that's enough I think. And the header has "issue #1" on it.
Nice!
Couple of small things:
"discuss" should link to pay-2007 rather than royal-mail I think.
work to rule has "back log" and "backlogs" - have to pick one. Also should add Burslem in - they've been doing it since December apparently.
distro: there's a CWU rally 21st August - I can't get to that one but might be worth doing.
work to rule - hartlepool's doing as well. i think we should just say several offices...
ok it's mostly done, trying to fit last few bits in and keep it nice.
if we use that postie logo, he looks a bit stretched horizontally... also the circle could do with being a bit thicker - maybe double? could you sort that?
nice use of white space, dunno how you've fitted it all in
postie's been put on a diet - new png up now. Can upload SVG (vector graphic, resizes without any loss in quality) if that's better
new draft up. few bits don't quite fit but will sort when we put final text in
Looks good to me. You got back page as well?
yeah, you need to d/l it to see i think.
there's some space on back page too. could put some extra shit there - mail address @ freedom say? little logo for the bulletin? like the libcom star in b&w?
needs mention of linking post office struggle with it... but i gotta go to bed. will continue tomow... we can have a finalish one up and still improve if some others are handed out...
Be good to have something printable/usable for tomorrow then we can always change little bits here and there. If a few people in London want to distribute we should try to get some bulk copying done during the week one way or another in time for Wednesday/Thursday.
Reported this week; "... on Tuesday, staff working behind post office counters went on strike to back their colleagues. Workers at the Hampstead post office in Hampstead High Street manned a picket line and told shoppers why they were taking action." - Camden New Journal.
Any room left to add a mention of counter staff action, or is it already referred to?
Not in yet but I think John is making/leaving space I think. Not sure whether it should be in wider public sector, or a small insert/section by itself.
the 'royal mail's strategy ...' big quote on the back cuts off before the end (expand the text box thing?) - but looking good
yeah jos back quote's different now.
post office thing could go in roundup...
jos - could you make the red and black libcom star into a white and black one? (i.e. not greyscale) just for on the back, small
i'm at work so no can do
can you do it in publisher? i think word has a black and white option as well as greyscale - or at least you can set a transparent colour, which could be red
i can try - but don't have a star pic here - am at gf's house. i'm sure there's one on the site somewhere but can't find it. balls.
if it's only little can't you use the one from the top left of the site?
no worries i made on from scratch
hippy
right it's finished, with text as of now anyway. i added about post offices. i also had to edit down the back page essay slightly, but not very much. i think in future we should try to keep things shorter. but hey not bad for a first effort!
can anyone turn MS publisher files into PDF? all i can do here is TIFFs, sorry. will save PUB file in email account in drafts, will upload tiff to draft document now
i can (probably) print the tiff to a pdf at home. if i download and install publisher i can do it directly from there. won't be until about 10pm at the earliest though so if anyone else can do it that'd be great.
nice!
a version is pretty much done - it could be improved. maybe envelope graphic, and getting rid of hyphenated words at end of lines - particularly in 318 box.
http://libcom.org/library/dispatch-public-sector-pay-dispute-1-august-2007
the sub-headers like 'doing the job as it's meant to be done' are a bit hard to read when printed with the bolding - increase the spacing between letters or something?
I don't think the envelope graphic looked that great on it first time 'round, obviously I'm biased towards my prole rip-off though.
if someone has publisher - DOit! orig in email a/c
Did you add Hartlepool into wildcats?
