Manchester Anarchists

We're having our next meeting on Tuesday 16th November at the Friends Meeting House, starting at 7.30. The Friends is right next to the central library and near the town hall. It is readily accessible from the tram stop in St Peter's square.

We'll be talking some more about ID cards and activity around that. Plus no doubt other stuff, incluidng having regular public meetings.

Hi knightrose, aren't the meetings already public and (fairly) regular?

yeah, they are. I was wondering if we could have meetings with a theme that someone prepares for and we publcise it. I'm probably just buzzin off the Galway trip and would like to try something similar here.

just thought i'd let you know, the ministry of truth is kind of stalled until after dec 25th now because the last meeting to finish it didn't work out and we had to shift the date from the end of november because of the anarchist bookfair.

any other dates this year will probably be immersion in shopping hell on market street...

I know what you mean about shopping hell!

In any case, it'd be useful to work out a fairly firm timetable and who knows, maybe organise some help on the MoT!

We discussed the army recruitment event at length. We decided to leaflet it on saturday 11th december. We'd welcome help! it'd also be interesting to hear if anyone else has any plans for other days ...

Really late notice this! We're having a meeting this Tuesday coming - the 14th December at the Friends Meeting House, start time 7.30pm.

Our last session before alcohol and food destroy all revolutionary fervour. We're starting up again on the second Tuesday in January. Hopefully from February we'll change venues.

Hi Kidda

some of us are hoping to organise some anti-BNP action and we are also working on getting the Ministry of Truth back on the streets (its like political street theatre) but this time focusing more on ID cards. We're also planning a public meeting so people who arent' the usual suspects can find out why ID cards are such shit. There are also things happening around refugees/asylum seekers.

personally i'm kinda bored with newsletters (although i might be shot down for this, lots of people like them and they can be useful, sorry everyone) but the good news is we've agreed on the date for the revolution. obviously, its like top secreat but we are working on training datestamped hedgehogs to carry the news to the rest of the world. who would suspect hedgehogs of working undercover? wink

hope things are still going ok in brum. you've all done a brilliant job there.

take care

x

Nice one you lot smile

((things in brum are going really well, weve won our battle with the council and the building is being put back into social use soon by a group working with kids who've been kicked out the education system))

whats the squatting scene like up in manc, any scope to do squatted social centres? even just weekend ''anarchist teapot'' stylee cafes?

Discussions vary. Sometimes one thing, sometimes more.

Currently we'll be discussing the forthcoming election and stickers etc. Plus how we can get involved in ID cards campaigns.

It all depends who turns up, really.

help with the ministry (its pretty much made but we need people to help do it on the day). and help with getting the public meeting together and publicising it? the reason for it is to educate people agaisnt the government distortions around ID which will increasingly be seen in the media as part of the softening up process... and also hopefully some ideas for activity will come out of it.

kidda

nothing much happening with squatted social centres in manc at the moment. there were plans but twice things went wrong (unfortunately imo, legal ones have pluses but theres a downside to legal ones as well, and somehow it just doesn't feel the same!!).

i really respect what you brummies have achieved.

Already planning to help with the Ministry on the Sat - as long as it's at a reasonable time - not too late.

It'd be nice if one of you guys could make the meeting and arrange details, most of the people there will want to be part of it.
