Your favourite online news sources

Thought it might be interesting for us to compile a list of the sites we use to get our news and info from.

Well starting I generally check http://libcom.org/news/ and then the news feeds which have shitloads of stuff: http://www.libcom.org/news/feeds/

I also look at www.ukwatch.net for long articles, though a lot are quite liberal + statist, and otherwise will mostly look at www.bbc.co.uk/news although I'll do the odd search on http://news.google.co.uk

How about you lot?

labourstart.org

check it nearly every day. It's almost all news from other sources (forbes, bloomberg and others tend to be the most useful ironically, and thehindu and other indian newspapers have some really interesting stuff in), it's great for finding stuff you'd never see otherwise (unless you read it on libcom.org/news once it's been collated by us wink). Takes a bit of effort to get to the good stuff though sometimes.

newsnow.co.uk was great for finding stuff about Katrina/New Orleans when that happened, and occasionally for other things, but I haven't used it for a while since the searches are very restricted and the categories are annoying. It's worth having around though and you get a lot more results than you would from google, and within 5 minutes of it going on-line.

I used to check the BBC/guardian/independent websites but now pretty much only go to individual news sources if it's a link from something on a forum or if I'm trying to read around something.

International - Indymedia/Libcom/anarkismo/infoshop/amnesty/labourstart/ Znet (rarely, difficult to navigate by topic)

National - Times/Independent/BBC/Libcom/Tolling Gang/Google News (personalised)/ national and regional indymedia/labourstart /Guardian online (rarely)/ All union websites with membership over 25k (the only ones which are regularly updated), all major government branch webstes (rarely anything useful, but sometimes an interesting bit crops up), various NGOs.

I use bbc.co.uk/news for proper news and ananova for unmissable(!) celebrity news. embarrassed It's http://www.ananova.com/entertainment/?menu=entertainment if anyone's interested, heh heh.

Blogs are good for news, I check out the Iraqi blogs frequently. They may not be as 'official' as some news sites, and are often influenced by personal opinions, but they give some good and constant news.

Here is good for worldwide blogs- http://www.globalvoicesonline.org/
