Generation Terrorist, wetheyouth and Veneigemappreciationclub are in WMA I think, and possibly Davethemagicweasel. Serge Forward is nearby. If none of them see this it might be worth a pm.

Hi, yeah im in WMA.

We do think of it as covering Coventry, but the centre of gravity does tend to be Birmingham, not least because thats where most of the members are from.

The easiest way to find out what we get up to is to browse through our forum here on libcom, or to have a look at our infrequently updated website. Our meetings are every other friday evening in Birmingham city centre. You're welcome to come along once you move here, just email us (wmanarchists[at]email[dot]com) to find out the when and wheres.

Plus, one of our members lives in Coventry and a couple of weeks ago we got an inquiry from someone else going to Cov Uni next year - so there could even be the start of a Coventry Anarchist Group smile)!

Also in brum there is brum solfed, food not bombs, indymedia and no borders, and probly some other stuff I've forgotten, which you may or may not be interested in.

Leicester's about 20 miles down the road from Cov going east. We've got an IWW group, there's also the Midlands Forum that meets at Leicester Secular Hall, and there's a bijou AF presence too. Dunno about the scene in Coventry though.

Hmm...funny you WMA guys have failed to say there is a new occupied social centre in Birmingham - The Cottage of Content (http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/birmingham/2006/08/347499.html), which you frequently use as a location for your talking shops. It was occupied a few months ago by a commited group of people dedicated to creating social transformations in the spaces we live and work in. It is now struggling to find enough people to support its continued existence.

Im fully aware of it, having been involved in it myself. Not as much as I would've liked I'll admit, but my dissertation has taken over my life and I haven't been down for a few weeks, so it slipped my mind.

Strikes me you could have just told the OP about it without bitching though.

And its empty phrases about "transformations" and "spaces" that make me less inclined to get back involved once the dissertations finished frankly.

There's lots happening in Nottingham too (see thread lower down on this forum list) - we are in East Midlands. There are Anarchist Federation members and loads of other people doing stuff. A good Defy-ID group too:

I wouldnt call them empty phrases. I'm partial to their literal definitions in the english language. transformations: A qualitative change from one state to another, space:an area in the landscape created to serve a specific purpose. Take your pick from many similar definitons. Whats empty about it?
