ps. i dont know what the situation is in iran exactly about free speech (e.g the embassy said i can bring in any books as long its not salacious) , so if its dangerous to meet then its probably not a good idea

the Iranian secret service has also far less restraints than most other country's services to go after visiting foreigners, while most will hand over you to the embassy after a short period, the Iranian authorities may keep you for a couple of years, see e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009%E2%80%9311_detention_of_American_hiker...

Apparently they accidentally wandered across the border. They were actually on a hiking trip in Iraq, which I'm reliably informed is poised to overtake Magaluf as one of the world's more popular holiday destinations.
I was referring to vicent's choice of holiday destination. But that's a good suggestion for vicent's itinerary.
It's a beautiful place, especially Esfahan, Shiraz and Bam (though I dunno what's left of it..). People are friendly beyond comprehension.
Actually, I'm excessively envious of Vicent. I have spent almost my entire life wanting to visit Iran and at no point has it ever seemed like a reasonable likelihood of it happening.

Btw - going on holiday in Iran for a month or two? Do you have the visa? My experience is from a British point of view and you'll be lucky to get a couple of weeks granted. I got an extension in Shiraz for a week and had to plead - I heard of Brits getting only a 3 days transit visa.
I've been to Iran three times. I love it. It's a great place to go. I'm also an Arab passport holder, which I imagine could well make it easier.
