I was going to suggest catagories for things that happened in 2012 which made you feel most optimistic or pessimistic, but then I figured I cut past anything which I might have to think about too seriously and nominate for posting on Libcom which made me laugh the most, a late entrant in the year

I was particularly impressed with the bits about not developing cyborgs and time travel. The poster has clearly seen the same movies as me, but probably didn't enjoy them as much.

Shit, you think that's a dissapointment?

I've been out of the UK without much access to English-language news. When I got on the plane to come back for Xmas, the person in front of me was reading a copy of the Daily Mail which had a cover story about Thatcher being the hospital for an emergency operation. Me and my partner were like "Shit! Is this it? Is it going to be the best Christmas EVER!?!11!"

Turns out it was just for some sort of small non-emergency operation and the old bag'll be fine. Fucking Daily Mail, there's Thatcher-love and incessant fear-mongering has put a damper on my Christmas.

Incidentally, I've also heard Bush will be in the hospital over Xmas with bronchitus, so maybe there's hope this'll be a red Christmas yet....

can we have a permanent category for best Omen cartoon? That way we can encourage Omen to make more.

Most inspirational struggle? Quebec students and South African miners come to mind. Perhaps Asturian miners and the anti-TAV struggle as well.
