QUB Anarchist/Libertarian Communist Society

We've got the signatures together and the constitution for an Anarchist 'Society' at QUB Belfast, should just be a formality getting it set up.

So, we were wondering is anyone on here involved in an Anarchist Society at any other Irish Universities? Could we look at getting a bit of co-operation going? Like if we are getting speakers over or doing talks or other events maybe trying to work on it together and have them reach a wider audience?

Any word on 'No Gods - No Masters', perhaps we could discuss making it a publication of 'student' anarchism in Ireland?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

heya,

i'm going to be involved in the Anarchist Collective in UCD this year. Hopefully we'll be doing introductions to anarchist theory and practice, with a hope to develop some sort of critique of the role of third-level education in society. I'll post up more after we have our first meeting, basically whenever we can get the people together. ther's a strong amount of anarchists in UCD, with two WSMers on the UCD payroll and a lot of unaffiliated anarchists like myself wandering around the concrete jungle.

i'd be very interested in getting a system of cooperation between college anarchist groups going so i'll let you know as things progress.

on the subject of no masters, i'm happy to write an article or whatever from my node here in krusthagen.

i suggested writing an article about christania, one about ungdomshuset, or possibly a book review of george monbiot's age of consent ( i know it's bollocks but it's bollocks that seems to appeal to students)

thinking about it again though, it might be better if the paper was used to develop an anarchist critique of college life. last year the rag was pretty random in content which i think was a problem.

I'm in TCD Anarchists. I'd be up for co-ordinating stuff. I think it's a good idea. There are enough anarchists to have societies or whatever in QUB, TCD,UCD, NUI Maynooth.

Well the idea was that it would be 'a publication of 'student' anarchism in Ireland'. James R (UCD) produced the first isssue and I produced the 2nd and neither of us want to produce a third. It was a pain in the balls. But if you're up for overseeing the production of the third issue then yeah that'd be great.

Yeah, I'm sure we could sort something out, as long as we get articles in from other Anarchist groups at other campuses. Post up a couple of old issues to the Organise! P.O. Box in the meantime.

Anything you think should go in to it? Please, not Christania, please...

Cheers;

I don't know where there are any old copies. But I'll go looking for them and mail you up what I can find.

jesus i didn't say that they were going to be nice articles. monbiot's a twat and christania is completely commercial and drug addled. ungdomshuset is cool though. and i'll fight any of you class struggle elitist marx reading poseurs who say different.

got that?
