In regards to "1700: The Jolly Roger"

I was watching the channel 5 program recently about pirates and according to their "expert", in regards to the jolly roger itself, the crossed bones may have represented rebirth they were supposed to be Femurs (thigh bones). I'm sure theres plenty of explanations out there...

I've got a photo of a crucifix with a skull and crossbones at the base, it's not uncommon to see it.
