You know it's Summer right now? Why don't you all go out and play. Haven't any of you fuckers got anything better to do?

Says the poster in post #121.

I have many better things to do, but I'm a lazy fucker and don't want to do them.

You're right of course Fleur, but this stuff doesn't actually take me very long to type. Where do you stand on the 'whore' word?

I think 120 and 121 equally tremendous in their own ways.

Well if you are committed you are committed summer or not. Better have socialists who are committed and arguing all day than enjoying the summer.

Thank you for pointing out that.

But here's the real skinny.

FV makes a remark clearly intended to be humorous, carrying a hyperbolic, exaggerated sense of being offended by Serge's claim that fv had been talking shite.

That's all there was to the remark. Some admin who wishes to remain anonymous got his/her short-hairs in a twist and deleted the statement for reasons that were, and also remain, obscure.

OK, fv asks for an explanation. Cue the fan. Cue the shit. And cue an admin getting involved in a discussion for personal reasons only, as is evident from the subsequent whining and threats over "wasting time."

Cue the horses; cue the jockeys; cue the call; cue the races.

Edit: slight correction needed. Where you live Fleur I'm sure it's correct. At least I've no reason to suspect that it isn't. Here in the UK though, and you hail from these parts you should know your shit, it is not summer at all. It's actually the season called Generic British Shit. Summer here is just an urban myth created by the evil bastards at Ambre Solaire.

Weird eh? Particularly given the original 'advice' I received from management over on post 342 of anti-Zionism:

I do indeed remember British summertime and I am shocked to learn that the good old British lack of grip on reality has slipped so much that people are no longer spending the summer months embarking on joyless picnics in the drizzle. I don't know what the world has come to.

We've spent the day rolling and tumbling about at indoor soft-play, ate a whole load of Cornish pasties and then ran about in the woods half-naked. Things aren't what they were.

Any managerialism that might have existed seems to have degenerated into a drunken binge. Drink anyone? Not you Noah – you fell in the cauldron as a baby.

Didnt knew parties where about competition. Are you usually the winner at the parties you are attending?

Blast: informally means "enjoyable" or fun or lively. No connotation of competition there at all. So I rest my case, you really must be a blast at parties.

I know what it means but by dividing people up into bad and good or enjoyable and annoying you create competition.

That's mere semantics/some other cliché in place of an original thought.

Well since libcom's self-evidently a club why not have a drink? I'll have three schooners of banana daiquiri and a ceramic pipette.

If anyone thinks he's joking I can assure you he's not - I've stood at the bar of the South Bank Centre and try to order two different spirits so fancy that they hadn't even heard of them.
Middle class ponce. I ordered a flagon of carpet cleaner.

I was pleased as punch yesterday when I read that Marx called his drinking club in Farringdon, "synagogue".

Banana daiquiri sounds nice; the pipette sounds weird.

It's really not worth the time to find out. It's a bit like an interminable MATB junta thread but with even less at stake.

You may find a few laughs but you will not learn anything you did not know already about the managerialism of the administrators of libcom.org. You are past despair.

On the second one, if you read the thread you'll observe certain parties receiving a good old verbal hiding and then slinking off, have another look and see if this helps in disentangling that last linguistic web I spun to deliberately confuse you - I don't think you can put this one down to US v UK English btw, wow!

Oh ffs-- i read the thread and if by "verbal hiding" you mean, ' i consistently employed the usage of anti-Semitic tropes, and when it was repeatedly pointed out to me by jewish comrades, i, rather than apologizing for giving even the impression of unacceptable behavior, instead kept going until others were so disgusted they stopped engaging,' then yeah, you really showed them, didn't you?

the comradely thing to do in that situation is to apologize for (presumably) unintentionally giving offense, ask why it was offensive, explain why you felt it wasn't inappropriate, and engage in a constructive conversation. Instead, you assumed bad faith, engaged in absurd pedantry and went so far down the 'i'm never wrong' hole as to suggest the tentacles analogy could have other possible meanings. like, have you really never come across the 'jewish tentacles' trope before? i honestly wonder if a phrase would have to have a swastika and funny mustache emojii attached in order for you to recognize it as anti-Semitic?

Then to top off the cake, when--in a thread about anti-Semitism in the anti-zionist movement--a long-term poster shockingly reveals anti-semitic and pro-fash ideology, rather than stepping back and saying, 'wow, well maybe there is more to this than i'm aware of' or some other acknowledgment, you, in an act of incomprehensible tone-deafness, continued to argue the minutiae of finer-point semantics. It's like this: either you are so absurdly thick on such issues that you're incapable of recognizing offensive language or you're just so intent on winning the internet that you just don't care.

To be honest, I'm surprised you weren't banned. But here you are, defending even more offensive language by telling others they don't have the right to be offended because they just don't get it.

It seems to me you and the other pedant share the polemical tactic of focusing on semantics and other argumentative minutiae in order to obfuscate and overwhelm your 'opponents' (be honest, that's how you view them) with piles of horseshit arguments, inevitably, leading to everyone saying 'uncle' and fucking off out of the thread...and VICTORY!! you've won.

I think you sometimes have valuable insights, and could help move conversations forward in a helpful manner. If you were at all interested in good faith, productive, and comradely discussion, you would perform a self-evaluation to, at a minimum, ask why so many feel this way about your debating techniques and choice of language. But I'm pretty sure you won't; you'll subsequently focus on some minor detail that i've gotten wrong, ignore the larger message, and when i stop responding out of frustration with your inability to be even remotely self-reflective, declare yet another great internet battle won--the undefeated factvalue.

How come this forum isn't titled "no flaming" like the others.

Also this is tedious. And whatever blood of the sordid whore isn't offensive by virtue of being archaic in my view, not that I care except that I have a degree in language so I do find these issues a little bit interesting.

At least I don't try to wrap my turds in shiny wrapping. And I merely called Gulai a bore, not a whore or a cunt and I didn't even use any anti-Semitic tropes. So I've at least got that going for me.

And sorry to say FV, you ain't no Lazy Riser.
