Forums : Access denied

See the title. It doesn't matter which link i try an use, i keep getting this error. I know others have had this problem before. Is there anyway of putting a sticky up, with the solution?

This is an error with our access control thing that's being worked on by the developers. Basically it resets permissions every few days.

The fix at the moment is that when I get in and see posts like this, I switch everything back on (which is a really really boring job). I've posted instructions so the other admins can do it if I'm not in.

It only affects index pages for sections because they're handled slightly differently than the rest of the site is, so you just need to go in via the tracker or forum hot topics and you'll still be able to get to everything.

Either it'll be fixed for good soon, or we'll change to a different way of doing access control. Either way it'll go away eventually.

OK. I just applied a patch which should fix this.

If you get any access denied errors from now on, please, please let us know. Otherwise it should just stay like this with a bit of luck.

how about now?

I think I've found (another) fix for it, requires a couple of minutes down time.

Will do a bit later this evening just before I do it.

OK I'll be putting the site in maintenance mode for around 5-10 minutes while I apply a fix to this, starting about 10.20pm - if you're doing any really long posts, save them somewhere!!!

OK I've upgraded the module that causes this error. We'll be keeping a close eye on the logs in case it happens again.

hmmm i can't remember which thread it was on, but IMO "forums hot topics" is best replaced with "forums latest"

also, with forums if someone posted a giant picture it didn't stretch out the whole forums, but now it seems to :?

BTW, I think you'll find that the person who posted that thread is redford (or maybe some other troll).

Yeah different theme behaves differently. Not sure how to fix.
