'Create Blog Entry' submission form

I've posted a couple of things on the blog recently but wanted to ask about the form and why its set up like it is.

1. Is it the same form for call content types, so you cant take off certain fields from it?

I'd like it to be a bit simpler to post so.

2. Could all the entries start off minimised apart from:

. Image
. Title
. Intro
. Body

(or is this something to so with the settings on my account and everyone else doesn't see 100 fields?)

No, everyone sees the same loads of fields. We would like to hide lots of them from some people at least but at the moment we can't.

If you could help us change the form that would be great!

http://drupal.org/node/468500

might be useful otherwise could be to do with permissions, i.e. take away permission for me to see maps etc.

But we really want people to mark stories on the map!

Cheers for the links/feedback, will check them out when I have a minute at the weekend

Hmm not sure if I totally see the point of geo-referencing everything?

Surely a good search system (i know not easy) kind of serves the same purpose.

Or at least just country tags, city tags...

edit // sorry if im being annoying btw

Yeah when there are already country tags the map seems a little fussy

I think this only works with map co-ordinates rather than country tags: http://libcom.org/library/map

yeah, and for some content we have it tagged right down to the very building, which I think is pretty neat. We don't make enough of it at the moment, but in the future hopefully it will be easier for us to use this info to help browsing. For example a possible mobile phone app which tells you about working class history near where you are right now or something…

Also, clicking on a map is easier to keep systematic than using word tags, as there are so many different levels: you could tag county, town, city, borough, state etc…

Fair enough, not saying we should get rid of it just personally think submission form could be much more user friendly. Is there no one around at the moment to work on this kind of stuff?

Be interested in a little reformatting on this page as well http://libcom.org/blog

A graphic like a speechbubble for comments or number of people already commented for example and possible reformatting of the 'submitted by' line. I could make some mock ups if anyone has any knowledge on how to do it. (literally forgotten how to use Drupal)
