I didn't see this on telly, but kind of wish I had: -

Yes but for how long?

The reality is that Galloway no longer needs the SWP, they need him. What does he now have to gain from being in alliance with a bunch of Trots who disagrees with on 7 issues out of 10?

I give the SWP 12 months in Respect at minimum, two and a half years at max.

What are the odds on the SWP coming up with the slogan "Vote RESPECT with no illusions" in the next year or so?

Paxman was being a total status-quo defending cunt there... almost manages to make me sympathise with galloway, but luckily I'm not quite that stupid.

The bloke who runs that website is a religious nutter, btw, but the article is legit.

BAP = British American Project.

If I recall the Lobster articles, it is basically a project where promising young Brits in fields like politics, journalism and business, are whisked off to the US, and given a grounding in all things American. This can often include entry to courses at Harvard, or fixed term contracts within the US political structure, albeit at junior levels.

The ties and contacts they make, are then said to influence them in later life. If you accept the Lobster position, the BAP is said to be one of the methods by which the Americans have won the hearts and minds of new Labour.

[memory lane]I remember having great fun at my old trade union conference, when there was a motion censuring the then-Gen Sec (the venomous Barry Reamsbottom) for his involvement with BAP.

Since the union right-wing pulled the old "red scare" tactic every year at election times, I got up there & lambasted him & his cronies for taking "Pentagon gold." Did fuck all good, but anyway.[/memory lane]
