Support the French Rioters!

From old Class War forum

Over 300 French towns and cities have now seen riots against the police and the government. More will follow.

Youth in cities as far as Brussels and Berlin have shown their support - it is time we did the same.

As the French state prepares for curfews and an even bigger crack down against working class support, we say loud and clear "Support the rioters".

Make your voice heard at the French embasssy in London at 3pm on Thursday 10th November. The address:

French Embassy in the United Kingdom

58 Knightsbridge,

LONDON SW1X 7JT

THE RIOTS IN FRANCE show that our French brethren won’t take Sarkozy’s repression lying down! As the violence spreads, as far afield as Brussels and Berlin, we salute the action taken by the French, Belgian and German working classes. Whilst the youth of France are fighting poverty, racism and state oppression, the response from the French government in the ugly shape of Interior Minister Sarkozy is to refer to these people as “scum”. They are not scum, they are working class heroes! Other reactions have been just as predictable: French fascist leader Jean-Marie Le Pen has talked of France being on the verge of civil war. It’s a class civil war! Given that Le Pen has a special section of his party reserved for police officers, his views come as no surprise.

We’re Alright, Jacques!

President Chirac’s response has been to bury his head in the sand and wish the riots would go away – just as he wishes the working class would go away. He can declare as many curfews and states of emergency as he likes but the working class won’t go away, you know! There aren’t enough police in France to enforce his decrees!

The World is Watching

We’re here today to show solidarity with the youth of France in struggle. It is also important that we send a message to the French ambassador in Britain and to the French government. We remember the 1961 Paris massacre of Algerian workers when an unknown number – possibly as high as 200 – were murdered by the Parisian police force. Then bodies floated down the Seine through the centre of Paris. If the French government is considering a military crackdown in its cities this time, the world is watching.

Class Unity, Class Pride, Class War!

As France goes up in flames, we offer our unconditional support to the insurrectionary French youth. The media is very keen to divide French youth into specific racial and religious groups, yet working class black, white and Arab youths have far more in common with each other than they have with France’s ruling political elite. Their standing together in recent days against the police onslaught has shown that the lies of the media, who seek to portray the rioting as some foul Islamist plot, are falling on deaf ears. Long may this unity continue!

Is that what U call libertarian riot ? That's simple hooliganism, just like your own football teenagers. These guys eat macDo, wear Nike, smoke Marlboro and shit on your communist dialectic like they shit on their own "class" (if ever they heard about any class, except school class !).

Could U be so naïve to counfound this with a social riot?

Who the fuck are my 'own' football teenagers? And why should I care where the rioters do their shopping? No doubt you consider a truly 'social riot' [sic] to be one in which people storm McDonalds and remove all the non-organic produce... roll eyes

Yeah like I said on u75 I think it's a bit too simplistic to say "support it".

Like the Iraqi resistance it's not homogenous. There are pro- and anti-working class currents in it, these are manifesting themselves in different tactics some of which are harmful to working class unity - like burning nurseries, gyms and bus drivers, murdering pensioners, burning workers' cars etc.

roll eyes Lets not take the liberal approach here by believing everything the media are saying...Yeh theres some very fucked off people in france and there not all immigrants and muslims as porttryed by the BBC press so on...so far i have seen in footage and by following the riots that the french government was content in letting the riots happen on the estates but as soon as the rioters took there anger out in central paris on saturday night thats when the shit hit the fan and we saw curfews come into effect and thousands of bald headed gastapo (french pigs) showing up.

As i said before in another thread the left are quite content in raising boring political stuff about countries a thousand miles away but when our neighbours start a fight back there is silence.

We should support our brothers and sisters in France as much as possible, lets face it this is a working class fight back not a lefty demo where people ask the police if they can have a march down a street.

you ARE having a laugh, aren't you?

these guys eat at mcd's?

for FUCK'S SAKE! is that in some way to put them beyond the fucking pale? should we carefully quiz every fucking person about their fucking diet before we offer them fucking solidarity? should we examine their fucking ashtrays so we don't ACCIDENTLY support someone who smokes marlboro? do you exclude from your company people who wear nike? (actually, you probably do, but normal people might take a different line...) it may come as some surprise for you to learn that the working class do, in fact, eat at mcd's, smoke marlboro - and even (believe it or not) wear nike!

i REALLY hope you were joking!

cant we just support the salutary and liberating aspects of the riot like rucking with the cops and looting and not get embroiled in the contraversy of advocating the murder of pensioners (if this allegation is true) or burning down schools? Though having said that i expect Debord would have said that the burning of schools is an attack on social conditioning and authority and whos to say he wouldnt be right, fuck it, if they want to, let em burn the schools, providing its the kids who go to the schools who do the burning who am i to disagree!

I must confess to not having read/watched the news regarding the French situation in too much depth but it looks to me like an underclass which has been pushed too far and is taking to the streets to make their anger known. If anti-social acts have been committed (and I'd be surprised if they hadn't) they are most probably being committed by a handful of people taking advantage of the situation and should not be confused with those displaying their discontent. I too think we should give them our full solidarity. red n black star

Having said all that, if they're the kind of dregs who wear Nike, eat at McDonalds and smoke Marlboro, I'm backing Chirac and the Pigs.

Of course these guys have rights to smoke Marlboros & even ganja.

Of course I was joking while portraying them as brave consumers, whose main goal probably is to get a celebrity moment on a TV show. I just got surprised reading here about full support from English revolutionnary lobby. That was great joke too !

Hi

I feel your pain bestov. As Captain Simian (of Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys) says, there's no room for sarcasm on the battle field. I can remember when it was hip to "unconditionally support" the IRA.

Love

Just to let you all know - the CW flyer about France was printed out and stuck up in the Social centre in Leeds I went to on Friday nite (not by me!) - www.thecommonplace.org.uk

It was good to see it in such a prominent place, shows that CW is getting around Leeds... Their bookstall took copies of the paper, posters and stickers too.
