Having looked into this, it seems to be a groundless rumour, on two levels:

1. People riot because they want to, not because Class War, or anybody else, tell them to.

2. Despite eager googling, I have not found one press article linking CW to the riots.

Its therefore a bit odd that people have heard a rumour that does not seem to have even rumbled, never mind roared!

here we go

'What's the UK. experience of this "Class War" mob?

They've moved in over the weekend to stir things (handing out stickers and tee shirts) to a Sydney suburb that's already had riots after 2 teenagers were killed in a stolen car during a police chase. It seems they're London based.'

and

'Leedsy, correctamundo. The riots that took place then and started the ball rolling for this "Class War" organisation where caused by the Aunty of the driver of the stolen car that killed the other two boys. She spread the untrue story that the police had rammed the car killing the boys (Jesse Kelly, the driver admits he "lost it" to use his words). You obviously have some knowledge of the area which has a high percentage of third generation unemployed. From my understanding of the area some have trouble finding a job 'that suits them' but a large percentage are too lazy to get of their collective arses.Maybe they could win the class war with a bit of sweat instead of drinking p**s,smoking dope and stealing cars and killing their mates.

gawkrodger ,couldn't find any printed info on their involvment,it was in a TV.story that bought it to my attention. '

Earlier this month there was a five minute feature about Class War on Channel 9 in Australia, I think the programme was called "Current Affairs".

The feature started by talking about "international terrorists" but rather than producing Bin Laden, the best they managed to do was show the Class War website, some stickers and t shirts.

A senior New South Wales police officer was wheeled out to threaten arrests and prison sentences, whilst a tearful Sydney social worker warned local youths not to get involved in Class War "don't go down this road" she insisted before bursting into tears again. All her good work in the community is apparently being undone by these yobs!

Class War's headquarters in Sydney was traced (to a post office box) and the extraordinary claim was made that Class War in Britain had played a "key role in the Oldham riots". Not true, but when did that ever stop the media?

Interestingly the programme did reveal that the Kelly family (at the centre of the recent riots in Sydney) have had their house bugged by the police, and charges have been laid on the basis of information from these bugs. The bug was planted BEFORE the fatal crash that provoked the biggest riots Australia has seen. Walls these days really do have ears........

The best bit of the programme was the interviews with two youths from the Macquarie Fields area who, to the horror of journalists, praised Class War. Second best was the Australian journalist expressing his horror that when he asked local politicians to go on air to discuss Class War they refused, and a police spokesman told him to "f off".

Clearly the New South Wales police do not have the smooth spin based operation of our dear friends in the Met......
