Information about Africa in Spanish

This is a thread for posting links to news, analysis and discussion about Africa in Spanish. An obvious place to start is the thread about Africa on alasbarricadas, the Spanish equivalent of libcom.

Morocco: there's a report here about a protest against the development of a mineral water bottling plant taking water from a source near the village of Ben Smim in the Middle Atlas. Three activists from Ben Smim were arrested after a protest march to the spring on Friday. The government has given a company owned by a French businessman permission to extract a hundred million litres in the first year. Around 3,000 people in Ben Smim and the surrounding area depend on the spring for drinking water and farming. This isn't a desert area but water is limited. Villagers had managed to delay the project for over a year but work finally started on September 10th, three days after the national elections. The people of Ben Smim are now looking for national and international support to help stop the scheme.

In the libcom library there's a more general article on Africa and the new enclosures looking at the process by which land and resources are being transferred into corporate ownership.
